Her expertise in domestic violence’s effects on the workplace, along with her strong ties to the business community, make her an ideal collaborator on this two year project. Angelo pioneered a process that translates domestic abuse to determine the financial impact on organizations. Her work saves US companies $7.9 M in lost workdays alone each year. Angelo is the co-author of the just released true crime memoir, Serrated – A True Story of Survival, Recovery and the Pursuit of Justice. Human Resource Essential is listed on the Family Violence Prevention Fund's web site as a National Workplace Resource. She has received Arizona Peace Officers Standards Training board (AZPOST) certification.
Angelo states, “Lost workdays and lost productivity are known as the biggest siphons of corporate profitability we have. These siphons usually are created by things that are happening outside the workplace. Small changes can have the biggest results, and employers are in the unique position to make those changes. That’s why something as simple as a poster in the work place shows that family and intimate partner violence won’t be tolerated; and as an employer, we’ll do everything we can to assist employees who are plagued by this issue.”
About the poster
The Avon Program for Women and Justice at O’Connor House was initiated through an Avon Foundation grant as part of the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign. To encourage collaboration among policymakers, service providers, victims and the community to stop violence against women. The O’Connor House was founded in the name of former US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor to be a center where civil talk leads to civic action. Justice O’Connor chose domestic violence to be the first issue addressed. The posters are free and may be ordered by logging onto the O’Connor House DV Poster website http://www.oconnordvposter.com.
