A special opening reception for Gatherings will be held on Friday, January 14th from 5:00-7:30PM. Community members are invited to meet the artist, view and purchase artwork and enjoy catering by LaMotta’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. The Alliance also invites the public to a Gallery WALK & TALK with Anna Tomczak herself on Saturday, January 15th from 10:00-11:00AM where she will speak more about her work, inspiration and creative methods.
“The Alliance is thrilled to announce that Tomczak’s stay in Southwest Florida will not be complete with just an exhibit and lecture,” says Lydia Black. “Her upcoming workshop will offer season and novice artist’s hands-on experience in image transfers.”
Tomczak’s gallery WALK & TALK will kick off a special two-day Photographic Image Transfers Workshop, hosted by the Alliance for the Arts on January 15th & 16th from 10:00AM-4PM. The workshop will consist of many inspiring studio hours learning and experimenting with photographic image transfer, and incorporating other modes of expression including drawing, poetry, collage and illustrations. For more information or to register, visit www.ArtInLee.org or call (239) 939-2787. Space is limited and pre-enrollment is required.
“Collecting, traveling, teaching, dreaming, learning and ultimately, remembering is what it is all about for so many of us,” says Tomczak. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and collections at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Florida Gulf Coast Museum of Art, Harn Museum of Art, McGraw-Hill, Museum of Florida Art, Norton Museum of Art, Polaroid Collections, Polk Museum of Art, Sony Latin-America and Tampa Museum of Art. She holds a B.A. in Theater Arts from Pennsylvania State University; and an MFA in Fine Art Photography, University of Florida. This combination provides her the foundation for the dramatic imagery realized in her current work.
Take this opportunity to explore the art of Photographic Image Transfers with pieces created by international artist and educator, Anna Tomczak. Experience the work by visiting the Alliance for the Arts exhibit, Gatherings – Anna Tomczak, January 7th through January 29th or join the creative community at the opening reception on January 14th, 5:00-7:30PM.
