Cromartie hosts “Shop with a Jock” for deserving kids

Dec. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- The holiday season has begun and New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie is granting Christmas wishes to underprivileged children from the Sports Foundation Inc. and the White Plains Youth Bureau at the Antonio Cromartie “Shop with a Jock” event on Friday, December 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the White Plains City Center Target.

   “To be able to bring smiles to kid’s faces during the holiday season is the greatest gift for me,” Cromartie said. “It’s especially important during this time of year that we step-up our efforts to help the community.”

   Cromartie, joined by teammates Mark Sanchez, Drew Coleman, Vladimir Ducasse, Kyle Wilson, Brad Smith and many others will take children on a shopping spree for holiday gifts. Each child will be given a Target gift card to shop for presents for their family.

   Fans can join in the holiday spirit by sponsoring a child with a tax deductible gift of $500. The sponsorship will include participation in the “Shop with a Jock” event, two VIP passes to meet Cromartie and some of his teammates at Legal Sea Foods.
   
   “Corporate philanthropy is in our DNA and as a company known for having family-friendly restaurants, it’s our privilege to support Antonio with this event that will help kids in our community,” Legal Sea Foods President and CEO Roger Berkowitz said.

   The Sports Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization offering local youth year-round programs designed to promote healthy minds and bodies and the White Plains Youth Bureau is a formal office of city government offering a full range of youth development programs and activities.

   "The Shop with a Jock event is a blessing for youth who have limited resources and few opportunities. Providing this opportunity to the youth of our program will give them a sense of pride and an understanding that their community cares," Sports Foundations Inc. Program Director, Nastassia Fleischer said.

   The Antonio Cromartie Foundation will also accept donations for “Shop with a Jock.” Any donations of $30 or more will receive a personalized autographed photo signed by Cromartie.
