Dec. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Thanks to Utah Medical Outreach, over 500 children and adults in Guatemala are hearing, seeing, and feeling better.

Dr.Craig Sacco, Audiologist of Family Audiology & Hearing Services recently returned from this trip to Guatemala and shared his experiences. Along with Dr. Sacco, were an ENT, an OB-Gyn, a dentist, an opthalmologist, an anesthesiologist, and a full nursing and OR staff. Using donated hearing aids and glasses from the community, and their own money and volunteered time, this group performed 49 surgeries, pulled 140 teeth, fit 16 hearing aids, gave 250 pairs of glasses, and visited over 500 patients in only 3 days. Everyone pays their own way, and volunteers their time so the people of Guatemala can improve their health with no charge. Without this free service, these children and adults would probably not be able to afford the quality health care that they require.

The doctor reports that while they were all tired at the end of the trip, they were all happy and will continue to go as he has gone for the last 10 years.
