Chrysler Group's New Pentastar V-6 Engine Receives 'Ten Best' From Ward's Automotive

Dec. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Pentstar V-6 EngineThis year the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has won several awards, and a few of those awards are due to Chrysler’s newest engine, the Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6. Ward’s Automotive has named this all-new engine as one of the ‘Ten Best’ engines for 2010.

The Pentastar V-6 engine was first introduced to the lineup with the Grand Cherokee and is due to be available on 10 other vehicles on the Chrysler Group’s lineup. Those vehicles due to receive this all-new engine include the Chrysler 200, 300 and Town & Country minivans; Dodge Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Durango and Journey.

"We designed the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 to meet a variety of requirements in terms of fuel efficiency and power for passenger cars, minivans and sport utilities," said Bob Lee, vice president of engine engineering and advanced propulsion systems for Chrysler. "Already we are looking forward to adapting future technologies to the Pentastar V-6 as they become available for even more fuel efficiency and performance."

Chrysler expects by 2014 this all-new powertrain will amount for 25 percent of overall corporate fuel efficiency improvements. This engine will replace seven V-6 engines ranging in displacements from 2.7 – 4.0-liters by 2013.
