Dec. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- With international trade currently proving crucial to UK business, companies in the agri-tech sector are being offered advice ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’ at an International Trade Opportunities Day to be held on 13th December.

The event, organised by the IATC (International Agri-Technology Centre), will give agri-tech businesses working across the food and non-food supply chain, the chance to talk in detail with UKTi (UK Trade and investment) trade officers from Brazil, Thailand, Turkey and Romania.

Ben Salisbury, Senior Project Leader at the IATC says, “If you are thinking about expanding into these interesting new markets, then this event is an opportunity not to be missed. The day works like a business match-making service, with UKTi Commercial Officers available for 30-minute individual slots, to answer your questions, tell you where UK companies can be most competitive, give advice on the local business culture and so on. It is a time-efficient way for businesses to make decisions about whether a particular market is worth pursuing for them.”

In addition to the Commercial Officers, Xenia Tsitridou, IATC’s representative in Brussels, will be giving advice on EU-funding opportunities and representatives from the IATC will be on hand to offer a wide range of targeted support to help agri-tech businesses develop their international business potential. Those attending the event will also be able to discuss the Overseas Market Information Service (OMIS), which can be used as the ‘next step’ once they have decided on a country to target.

“Spaces are limited at this event, and they tend to get taken up quickly, so we would advise early booking,” Ben Salisbury continues. “If you are unable to attend this event, however, please do get in touch with us at the IATC and we will see if there are any other ways we can help you.”

The event is being held on Monday 13th December 2010 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. If you would like more information, or to register, please contact Laura Stubbs lauras@iatc.org or telephone 02476 323960.
