Plymouth Tube Company Receives Manufacturing Excellence Award From AME

Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- WEST MONROE, LA – Plymouth Tube Company’s West Monroe, Louisiana Tubing Mill is a proud recipient of a 2010 AME Manufacturing Excellence Award. One of six to receive the award, West Monroe demonstrated significant improvements over a three year period with a focus on best practices, creativity and innovation.

West Monroe began their lean journey in 2000 with 5S implementation and has shown great improvements in safety, quality, cost and delivery. The mill holds kaizen events and practices Topgrading, 80/20 and Lean Strategies.  Employees have the ability to think, be creative and are engaged in daily improvements that help improve performances.

“The success of our journey thus far has is a result of our associates’ engagement in our war on waste,” says Sam White, General Manager. “The two biggest factors have been an associate-owned improvement implementation program and structured problem solving used to determine root cause, effectively eliminating problems.”
