Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Got Bragging Rights was awarded a $15,000 Health grant from Pepsi and Safeway to build an interactive website featuring positive stories of everyday heroes and role models, promote charitable causes nationwide, and encourage greater community engagement and volunteerism. The ultimate goal of Got Bragging Rights is to promote community and personal pride in a positive way.

The Pepsi Refresh Grant Program in partnership with Safeway provided a total of $135,000 in grants to nine project ideas with proposals to make a positive impact on the Planet, Education, or Health in communities across the United States. Up to 100 project entries were accepted in each category from individuals, non-profit and for-profit organizations. The public decided which project ideas were worthy of receiving the $15,000 grants by placing daily votes for up to three of their favorite ideas. Pepsi is also working with partners at Global Giving and GOOD to verify and support all project ideas. Global Giving is an online marketplace that connects people who have community and world-changing ideas with people who can support them and GOOD is a leading platform for thought and action revolving around pushing the world forward.

Got Bragging Rights, LLC is a for-profit social enterprise. In other words, the goals and mission of the company are dedicated to improving the social environment. In keeping with the company mission, the grant will be used to launch a project called: “Heal the Nation by Helping Others”. The concept is simple: Working together, we can bring more positive action into the world by celebrating great people doing great things for others. Across the nation, voters agreed that the idea is a compelling one and showed their enthusiastic support for implementing the project through their daily online votes.

Project goals:
•   Heal and empower those of us feeling beaten down in these tough times
•   Inspire the nation to help and support others
•   Connect people along common lines
•   Encourage innovation and creativity in resolving problems
•   Provide strength in numbers

To provide balance to the hardships and negativity that we face today and to improve the lives of many Americans, plans are underway to generate more volunteerism and community spirit in neighborhoods around the nation. Got Bragging Rights will soon be sending a challenge to teenagers and young adults to generate innovative ideas for increasing community engagement and volunteerism in charitable causes. Project idea owners will compete for cash and prizes to implement their winning ideas. Additional details will be released over the next few months.

Got Bragging Rights is also developing a safe and interactive website where members can discuss their concerns and provide a helping hand or support to others. In addition, a video series will be produced to showcase individuals, organizations and celebrities who are helping others in communities across the nation. Anyone who knows of an everyday hero or role model will soon be able to submit their stories to Got Bragging Rights. Information about charitable causes and how you can help will be posted on the website as well.
