Dec. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- It can be argued that the value of a children's book is not so much in the quality of the adventures, as it is in the quality of the message it leaves with our young ones. It takes a strong message, carefully crafted and effectively applied, to garner recognition in the literary community. The Pink Dolphin seems to stand apart from all other children's books currently coming out of South Carolina in it's supreme level of acknowledgment.

Haynes Johnson, Pulitzer-Prize-Winning journalist and best-selling author, says, “The Pink Dolphin appears to be a book for children. It's much, much more than that. This lovely, inspiring little book addresses the current divisive national climate that makes it so hard for America to accomplish anything in all our interests--and to unite in bringing us together for the good of all. Beautifully illustrated, and written with a simple eloquence, it's a book for all Americans at a critical moment for the country. Read it and be inspired too.” Some of the notable names who agree include Pat Conroy, established author, Miriam Hair, Executive Director of Municipal Association of SC, and Richard W. Riley, Jr., Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education and current governor of SC, who claims, “This is a beautiful story with a child's clear message. We adults can learn so much from our children.”

Although Billy Keyserling had never written a children's book before, it seems his debut is a smashing success. Having teamed with an extremely wise 8-year old boy, Thomas McDermott-Post, and a retired, but active visual artist, Keyserling, the current mayor of Beaufort, SC, can certainly attribute his success to the strong ideas of community, friendship, and civil engagement included in the pages of this book. The Pink Dolphin is giving both kids and adults something to think about this holiday season. At PinkDolphinShop.com, one can learn more about the alliance between the mayor and the boy, order a variety of Pink Dolphin T-shirts, and ultimately wrap his or her hands around this light-hearted children's book that is heavy with thought-provoking ideas.
