By: Carr Marketing Communications FOR DECEMBER 4, 20O10 What: In the midst of the season’s first snow, Special Olympics New York will hold its annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Former Buffalo Bills player and NFL Hall of Famer Joe DeLamielleure will be one of the nearly 1,000 daring plungers into Lake Erie at Hamburg Town Beach. Those who still wish to participate can sign up at www.polarplungeny.org and create their own Polar Plunge Web page so friends, family and co-workers can easily donate online. Prizes will be given out for the top fundraising high school, college, team and individual as well as the largest team and best costume. Who: Special Olympics Athletes and nearly 1,000 plungers from Western New York When: 11 a.m. Registration at Hamburg Town Beach, 2 p.m. Plunge into Hamburg Town Beach Where: Hamburg Town Beach, Hamburg, N.Y. Contact: Special Olympics New York provides year-round sports training and competition in 22 Olympic-style sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities at no cost to the athletes, their families or caregivers.
