Dec. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- SplitRock Wind (”SplitRock Capital”) in cooperation with their partners is pleased to announce to the public that with its $125,000 grant award that the commercialization phase has been started to prepare the turbine for a 3-10 megawatt pre-commercial prototype.  The development team will further optimize the Company’s wind turbine system utilizing an engineering-driven, analytical approach which will include testing of commercial surface system before its use in the upcoming pre-commercial prototype build.

SplitRock Wind aims to be a major player in wind power technology for many years to come. They will be the first energy solution that doesn't need any subsidy support to be self sufficient and financially viable at a projected a ¢ 1.7 cents per kilowatt for cost of energy, making it the lowest cost energy production system and second to none including coal, natural gas or nuclear power generation.

With its motto, “Built in America,” the company's intent is to stay and grow in the US, creating jobs and helping the US lead the way to a clean and sustainable economy using 100% American technology.

ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY: The SplitRock Wind concept uses a combination of modules and a taller tower which makes this technology able to go after the higher altitude winds, yet address differing wind directions maximizing ROI using the available tower face with its tremendous annual energy generation potential and efficiency. SplitRock Wind technology is a 'transformative' innovation with its revolutionary wind turbine design. It is modular unlike the the old wind turbines and does not take special shipping methods to transport, it's easy to build and assemble on site or to do onsite maintenance with its built in crane and elevator.

The real game changer is that it produces much more energy with its high efficiency design with a lot less land thanks to its very high density power generation. That is what has wind developers salivating. The minimum start-up wind speed required by the turbine is 2.5 m/s and its rated wind speed is 12 m/s. The system has built in artificial intelligence electronic controlled blade pitch system and electronic yaw incorporated for maximizing power generation and uptime.

The full guyed tower height of this wind turbine is 392 meters (1286 feet). The most important issue the technology solved was also the most basic and fundamental aerodynamic flow and rotor blade energy extraction. Their innovative system of multiple air flow channels greatly increased energy capture capability, making the wind turbine much more efficient in its use of wind currents and power generated.

SplitRock Wind systems are designed to be located in harsh and hard to access inhospitable locations for both onshore and offshore wind farms. Reducing the cost and frequency of sending maintenance teams to these locations placed an even greater emphasis on turbine reliability and dependability. SplitRock Wind turbines evolved to incorporate the use of live operating monitoring systems for preventative maintenance scheduling before malfunctions occur.

Pictures and detailed information about the wind turbine will be made public on the corporate website at http://www.splitrockwind.com. SplitRock Capital Dba SplitRock Wind, is a privately held corporation.

Splitrock Capital has estimated that the price per MW installed for its new technology will be approximately 50% of traditional open air turbines. The first energy solution that doesn't need any subsidy support to be self sufficient and financially viable.
