Why Saint Wenceslas?
Saint Wenceslas (aprox. 907 – 28th September 935) was a Czech prince and a saint and is considered the main patron of the Czech lands.
There is a sandstone statue of Saint Wenceslas from 1905 on a pedestal with coats of arms at the beginning of the alley leading to the house (across the street from the renovated Kavalirka estate). The statue has a sign that reads "Saint Wenceslas, do not let us nor the yet unborn perish".
According to the locals, there is an old fresco painting of Saint Wenceslas hidden under the plastering of the house. It will hopefully re-appear again in a few months after the well deserved renovation.
