Nov. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine will mark World AIDS Day on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.  Medical and pharmacy students and faculty members are encouraged to wear red in observance of World AIDS Day.  At 11:45 a.m., they will form themselves into a human red ribbon and pose for a group photograph in the LECOM Atrium.  The LECOM Choir will also perform.

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention says there are approximately 1.1 million Americans currently living with HIV/AIDS.  The CDC estimates 53,600 Americans are newly infected each year.  LECOM students and faculty will take 15 minutes of time to remember those who are living with HIV/AIDS and those who have died from complications of the disease.  They will acknowledge the suffering beyond the walls of LECOM.  AIDS quilt panels made by students will also be on display.
