Chicago in the Top 5 List for Bedbugs

Nov. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- According to the pest control company Terminix, Chicago is the 5th most bedbug infested city.  The pest control company based their findings on call volume of the blood sucking pests and confirmed cases.  According to an October 29th report in the Chicago Tribune Newspaper website, Chicago Breaking News Center, bedbugs are now making their way from homes, hotels and apartments to some of Chicago’s downtown office buildings and government headquarters.

Cases of bedbug infestations have been reported from the Chicago Public Schools’ headquarters to major banking centers on Dearborn Street.  The insects have been found in everything from large corporate offices to simple family-run businesses.  

Bedbugs can be found in bedding, clothing, furniture and carpeting to name a few places.  Bedbugs are from the Cimicidae family of insects and they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Adult bedbugs grow to a size of 4 to 5 millimeters.  There small size and ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures makes them difficult to find, identify and exterminate.
