New Baby Event Born!

NEW BABY EVENT BORN!

A number of local businesses are collaborating on December 8th in Lichfield to launch a unique free event for parents to be – “Lichfield Baby Event”.

Expecting and new parents are being invited to the Guild Rooms in the Guildhall from 7-9pm, for an evening showcasing some of the best local family focussed services and products available to help them on their new adventure.

A diverse range of businesses and advisors will be on hand to talk to parents about a range of issues from washable cloth nappies, baby swimming lessons, baby & toddler music and sensory classes, baby signing classes, ante-natal reflexology and hypnobirthing, post-natal advice, reiki and healing for mother and child.

Organiser Helen White from Burton Real Nappies thought of the event after feedback from her customers suggested that parents struggled to find out information about services, products and social opportunities available to them.

Helen said, “Due to the work commitments of both mums and dads, many are not aware of services that are available to them or their families in the area - both advisory and socially.  Parenthood can be an exciting yet daunting time and there are many products and services that people may not know are out there to help them.  We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to gather information on a range of products, services and social opportunities all under one roof at one event.”

Confirmed organisations attending on the night include Water Babies, Baby Sensory, Tiny Talk, Hypnobirthing, Reflexology, Little Impressions, NCT Lichfield & Tamworth branch, Reborn UK, Saxon Hill Children’s Centre, Growing Spirit Reiki and Crystal Healing, Little Lily Pad co, Better Birth Doulas, Clare Jarratt Independent Midwives & Burton Real Nappies.

Entrance is free and there will be complimentary refreshments and a prize draw raffle. Parking in Lichfield is free after 6.30pm.

There is a great deal of information and help out there for parents and Helen hopes that this event will help people access it. For example, Helen volunteers for the Staffordshire New Nappy Network and works with Staffordshire County Council to promote the use of cloth nappies in Staffordshire, for which there is a cash incentive.

She added “Many parents are unaware they are entitled to a cash back incentive for trying washable nappies of £30 per child (£100 for ESBC). There is no minimum spend required - meaning you can see the benefits of changing to cloth with no financial commitment on your part. Claim forms and starter kits will be available on the night as well as cloth nappy demonstrations showing parents that washable nappies are a viable alternative to disposable and not a nappy pin in sight!”  

Helen concluded, “This kind of event is a real first for the area and something we're hoping to replicate, making it part of every ante-natal couples’ build up to having a baby.”
