Nov. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- MEXICO GREW 8.8% BETWEEN 2005 AND 2010. NUEVO VALLARTA GREW 5.5X FASTER

Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) released preliminary 2010 census results. Mexico grew 8.8% from 103.2 million to 112.3 million people during the last five years. Nearly 10 million of the people reported in the 2010 census reside in the USA, primarily in the border states of California and Texas.

Nuevo Vallarta‘s population grew 5.5x faster than the rest of the country; indicating the onset of an impressive economic boom in the area. This growth was fueled by the “Riviera Nayarit” promotional campaign sponsored by Nayarit’s Governor Ney Gonzalez Sanchez whose term at the helm of the state ends in 2011.

Nuevo Vallarta‘s growth rate is reminiscent of Cancun’s population boom during the 70′s and 80′s. http://rentalsinvallarta.com/tag/nuevo-vallarta-mexico

Puerto Vallarta, located just 10 minutes away, saw its population grew an impressive 1.6x faster than the national growth rate.

THE WEATHER MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GROWTH

The twin towns of Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta are located at the same latitude as the Hawaii archipelago sharing the shores of Pacific Ocean on opposite sides of the Ameca River. The monthly temperature in the area ranges from the 60F in the winter months to 90F in the summer months.

Both towns share Puerto Vallarta‘s International Airport (IATA code PVR). The area is reported to house 50,000 American and Canadian citizens residing along Bandera’s Bay shores.

NUEVO VALLARTA’S GROWTH IS IMPRESSIVE

Nuevo Vallarta is located in the municipality of Bahia de Banderas which grew from a population of 83,739 in 2005 to 124,209 in 2010 representing a change of +48%. The state of Nayarit grew 14% from 949,684 people to 1,084,957 in the same period.

PUERTO VALLARTA’S GROWTH IS ALSO HIGHER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE

Puerto Vallarta‘s population grew 16% or 1.8x faster than the rest of Mexico. Puerto Vallarta, located in the municipality by the same name, grew from 220,368 to 255,725 inhabitants in the last five years. In comparison, the state of Jalisco grew only 8.9% in the same period from 6.8 million to 7.4 million inhabitants.

OTHER MUNICIPALITIES NEARBY OF INTEREST TO INTERNATIONAL TOURISTS

Puerto Vallarta is the third largest city in Jalisco lead by Guadalajara (encompassing the adjacent municipalities of Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonala). The second largest population center in Jalisco is Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, a municipality located near Ajijic and Chapala.
