This may involve some research and take some time, but this step is necessary for an organization’s survival. If you are new business, figure out who the community leaders are in the area you are targeting and try to establish a relationship with them. This will benefit your company for years to come.

Next, Panda PR recommends assessing the community’s needs. How would your products or service help them or potentially hurt them? If you are just getting started, it might not hurt to go around and introduce yourself. Putting up flyers or sending out a mailer is not as effective as making a personal connection. Ask to speak at town hall meetings and different organizations that you know would benefit most from your offerings.

Once your target audience has been established it is important to figure out how to best communicate with them. Sometimes there might be language barriers and you will have to bring on an interpreter to help out. Other times there might be a socio-economic divide between you and your customers. Figure out how to communicate with the community and you will be off to a great start.
