Nov. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- In keeping with its status as the ultimate village hotel, The Maynard in Grindleford is inviting the local community to join them for a traditional family New Year’s Eve celebration to see in 2011 in style.

With the VAT increase on the horizon, economic doom and gloom in the news and the usual end of the world predictions (1), revellers will be relieved to hear that tickets have been priced at a credit crunch busting £10 for adults and £5 for children. Included in the price is a fork buffet and with the famous Maynard disco running from 8.00pm until 1.00pm, hotel director Paul Downing is predicting another great night at The Maynard:

“Many people still choose to stay at home on New Year’s Eve, preferring to celebrate with the family,” explained Paul. “But at The Maynard, people can have the best of both worlds, a night out, with the family invited and all at an affordable price. We are proud to be a traditional local hotel with roots in the community, and we hope people will come and join us again this year.”

New Year is all about traditions and new beginnings: the countdown to the chimes of Big Ben, food, festivities, First Footing and The Maynard is a great place to start the New Year in style. The buffet opens at 9.00pm, giving everyone time to eat, drink and dance prior to Big Ben and Auld Lang Syne at midnight and carriages at 1.00am.

With tickets available at such an amazing value, interest is expected to be high, so pop in to the Maynard or call 01433 630 321 to reserve your place for what promises to be an unmissable, earth shattering event! The ticket price is a reflection of the difficult times many of the hotel’s customers are experiencing and as a thank you to all those who continue to make the Maynard their first choice not just at New Year, but throughout the year.

“We have had a successful year despite the downturn, particularly with weddings,” added Paul. “We felt that keeping our New Year’s Eve prices down would be a good way to thank our regular customers for their support, but also to demonstrate we are not ignorant of the financial difficulties many people are facing. At these prices, the whole family can afford to celebrate the New Year in style and we look forward to welcoming old friends and hopefully some new people to help us see in what promises to be another happy and successful New Year at The Maynard.”

Following a major hotel and restaurant refurbishment, The Maynard has been transformed, with a contemporary, yet classic interior. The Victorian building is the perfect setting for a traditional New Year celebration, with a warm, inviting family feel that all the family will enjoy.

The new wedding packages for 2011/2012 are now available for those planning ahead and a host of new menus and events are already in the pipeline for a busy new year at one of the region’s best loved hotels. For further information, why not log on to www.themaynard.co.uk

Notes to editors:

1.The world is due to end (again) on 21 May 2011. If one day equals 1,000 years to God, Genesis shows that 7,000 years from Noah’s flood (estimated to have occurred in 4990 BC) brings us to 2011! (When counting from Old to New testament dates, one year must be subtracted because there is no year ‘0’ (From the book “We Are Almost There” by Harold Camping and Brian Miller). Should mankind by some miracle survive, people will have a second chance for world annihilation in 2012; as the ancient Mayan calendars predict disaster for this year instead – see the motion picture 2012 for an estimate of the likely damage. You have been warned!

In the ‘Terminator’ series, “Judgment Day is predicted for 21 April 2011 and in K.A Applegate’s, Remnants, 2011 is the year life on Earth becomes extinct.

If mankind does survive, we have the following events to look forward to:

Events at The Maynard

•   Launch of the Maynard 2011/2012 Wedding Packages
•   ‘In Search of Little John’ – The Maynard walk on 27 April as part of the Peak District Outdoors Festival, 2011. Perfect for the United Nations’ International Year of Forests.

Derbyshire events worth checking into The Maynard for:

•   Royal Shrovetide Football (Ashbourne Town Centre, February)
•   International Horse Trials (Chatsworth, May)
•   Castleton Garland Day (Castleton, May)
•   Chesterfield Medieval Market (Chesterfield, July)
•   Chatsworth Country Fair (Chatsworth, September)

•   Finally, if you are superstitious and planning a 2011 wedding, there is only one Friday 13th in 2011 and it falls in May!
