At 8 years old singer songwriter Ellie came to America from Germany. Her first home in the US was Sacramento. 7 years later she will return to Sacramento. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his first lady Maria Shriver have invited Ellie and 2 of her friends, Singers Moi and Morgan Leigh to provide entertainment during the lighting of the State Christmas Tree at the Capitol.

Ellie and her story came to the attention of the First Lady when she received a copy of the Charity CD Song for Food.

Released in 2010 Song for Food is a 15 song CD featuring 12 new artists. 100% of the proceeds from sales of the music will be distributed to Food Banks in America.
The CD and information on the Cause is available at http://www.songforfood.com

The amazing story behind Song For Food® began during the night of Thanksgiving 2008 when a citizen from the Northwest, wishing to be of service to his local food bank, experienced a long vivid dream and woke up with a song in his head. In the dream, he saw a group of singers perform music for the cause of hunger relief in America. The song was meant to be part of the fund raising project. Though he felt the philanthropic vision was certainly nice and uplifting, he quickly dismissed it since music wasn’t his trade, nor did he wish for it to be! This launched a cycle of sleepless nights, with the song constantly at the forefront of his mind, until he finally got the message that perhaps he was supposed to write it down.

The song was the fictitious story of a young girl named Ellie... a gifted singer who also played guitar. Her jobless parents were taking her to public places near the beach every day after school in the hopes of raising some money to bring food to the table. The “beautiful stranger” referred to in the song was the Statue of Liberty appearing in the background... a symbol of hope and dreams.

When our citizen took on the challenge of finding a singer, a slew of initial disappointments presented themselves that were reason enough to give up early on. But a close friend kept reminding him of the greater purpose to be served. Then, one day while searching for studio singers on the Internet, a new link appeared on his screen. It wasn’t for a singer, but for a music producer from another state whose offering was to “turn one’s musical dreams into reality!” The producer embraced the vision and arranged for a vocalist to record the song.

One day before the recording was to be completed (8 months from the time the song was written), a young girl named Ellie walked into the producer’s studio with her parents, carrying a guitar. She told him that she sang and needed a demo - which they couldn’t afford - to get gigs by the beach and help support her family (six brothers and sisters). Dad was out of work and mom couldn’t make ends meet. When she began singing, it was like hearing the voice of an angel. The producer was astounded. The song he had just recorded was about this real family sitting right there on his couch! When he played Beautiful Stranger for them, they couldn't contain their joy and disbelief. There was no longer any question that the dream had to be pursued.

Soon after, this incredible story and the vision behind the project attracted a number of other talented young artists within a very short period of time. They each came with their own unique stories. Yet they all shared the same heart-felt attraction to the project: to create music that would entertain and inspire while helping raise funds and awareness for a vital cause.

Note: PhilanthropIX donates 100% of the album profits to designated food banks when purchased directly from our website.
