Nov. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- The UK’s leading discount and voucher code website has reported a rise in searches for London hotels since the announcement of the impending Royal wedding, with the volume of normal searches tripling since the announcement.

Whilst www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk has experienced a 79% increase in the search term ‘London hotels’ on the site; it also seems the announcement of the event has sparked an interest in the monarchy in general, with searches for Royal family memorabilia also increasing by 56% since the announcement. There have also been more than 1,000 searches on MyVoucherCodes.co.uk for ‘Royal wedding tickets’, with many keen to attend the event assuming that tickets would be available.

The founder of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk also owns a number of discount sites overseas, including CouponCodes4u.com in the US and TopGutchienCode.de in Germany; the American site has seen a 73% increase in searches for the term ‘London hotels’, whilst the German site has experienced a 46% increase since the wedding was announced.

The founder of the site is encouraging people to book early if they are hoping to secure accommodation in London around the time of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding next year, before hotel owners put the price of rooms up due to the occasion.

Mark Pearson, chairman of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, commented on the findings;

“We expected to see some interest for London hotels following the announcement of the wedding earlier this week, but the actual increase in searches came as a big surprise. For many to be looking into accommodation this early just goes to show what a big impact the Royal family have on the UK and its tourism as a whole.”

“We’ve also had huge increase in searches for the term ‘London hotels’ on our overseas sites, which we almost expected due to the US and Germany’s known fondness of the monarchy here in England.”

He concluded, “I’d suggest that if people are interested in being in London around the time of the wedding, now is the perfect time to book. Hotels will soon catch on if they haven’t already, and prices will go through the roof.”
