Nintendo Wii sales at all-time low

Nov. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- With the festive season fast approaching, the UK’s leading discount website, has investigated the popularity of each games console on the market, based on searches and sales via the site, with an aim to discover how each device is faring.



According to http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, the Nintendo Wii is the least popular games console ahead of this Christmas, with searches for the device only accounting for 16% of the total of searches made for non-handheld game consoles on the site. Sales for the Nintendo Wii through the site are down by 47% when compared to the same time last year.



Nintendo Wii games account for 19% of the total searches for console games on http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, whilst Wii controllers and accessories are also at an all-time low; making up 15% of the total searches for gaming controllers and accessories.


According to searches on http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, the games console that is most popular ahead of Christmas 2010 is Microsoft’s Xbox 360, the device accounts for 43% of the total games console searches through the site; a higher percentage than any other console.  



Shortly following the Xbox 360 is Sony’s PlayStation 3; according to the search analysis of  http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk Sony PS3 searches account for 31% of all searches for game console on the site.



Mark Pearson, chairman of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said the following about the findings;



“This time last year, the Nintendo Wii was still competing well against the other higher spec consoles. This year, however, the Wii is facing some fierce competition from its competitors; Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 are forcing the Wii to the bottom of the gaming league table – and I think the release of the Move and Kinect is the sole reason.”
