Since the beginning, The Dropout Plan has always been in a continuous progression.  Right from the start Ryan Stolinski and Jake Falana (both acoustic guitar players and singers) began playing the South Jersey coffee house circuit.  This went on for about a year at which point they decided to put together an actual band.  In comes bassist Jared Whalen.  The initial set up included drummer Dean Dzeirzynski, but since that point, members left, members returned and new members arrived, leaving the final set up of Ryan Stolinski (acoustic guitar/singer), Dean Dzeirzysnki (drums), Jake Falana (vocals), Monty Boyer (guitar), Mike Lunneman (guitar), and Jared Whalen (bass).

Now that they had settled on their band mates and the tone of the group, which was a more edgy sound coupled with technical guitar work and expressive lyrics, they started to settle into their groove.  Every song they wrote inspired another song.  After working for one month they put together 5 songs.

Two particular songs, “These Maps are Heavy”, and “Oh the Places you Go” are off of their new EP “The Demo”.

“These Maps are Heavy” slightly correlates to the pirate story that’s being told throughout the song.  This story is told with a musical feel to it - a stage production in effect.  The story is told with dramatic effects along with the chorus in perfect synchronized glory.  Just listen to that acoustic guitar that takes this song through the entire storyline.  It is beautifully played and delivered.  I can almost see the players in costume on stage.

“Oh the Places you Go” is a spinoff of a Dr. Suess book.  It is a more dramatic song about life.  Again the acoustic guitar has its own identity, a voice of its own – perfectly played to bring the drama into the song.  This song has wonderful harmony and is beautifully delivered in its complete state.

The Dropout Plan isn’t your ordinary pack of musicians.  They are clever to create an identity that is all their own.   Every new listener is drawn to this group like a magnet.  They are so talented and with such a different style of music, that you can’t help but listen and enjoy.    This is The Dropout Plan.

The EP, “The Demo” has been released both digitally and physically.

The expected release of the complete full-length CD is December, 2010.  After the release, they will be planning a tour and will continue to play shows as much as they possibly can to promote their new songs.
