Nov. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Essex based supplier of white goods Big Appliances has retained its astonishing low prices on all range cookers over the Christmas period. From the Belling range cooker to the Falcon range cooker; from a Caple range cooker to a Leisure range cooker, the big site that started from modest backgrounds has managed to maintain its pricing policy by adhering to a strict code of transparency: a code that has occasionally seemed sadly absent from some of the company’s high street competitors.

Big Appliances benefits from its own beginnings, as a family run importer of oversize white goods to the trade. Never having the need, initially, to compete for domestic and private custom, Big Appliances simply wasn’t there when the major high street retailers started widening their price margins or incorporating hidden contracts into bills of sale: and so, when the recession hit, the company (which has sold the Belling range cooker, the Caple range cooker, the Leisure range cooker and the Falcon range cooker in bulk for years) was suddenly presented with an alluring gap in the market. Able to keep its own prices exactly as they always had been, Big Appliances was able to sell great value range cookers to a public fed up of being overcharged by the normal high street outlets – with the result that those high street outlets were suddenly forced to bring all their prices down to meet the new demand. Not an easy thing to do when you have built a business reliant on unrealistic margins. And so Big Appliances assumed it own quiet corner of the domestic market, routinely sourcing and supplying top quality big white goods to satisfied customers while other retailers struggled to make ends meet.

There’s more to this story than simple chance, of course – Big Appliances has always operated with the family values it first had, and so has never felt the urge to charge more than its sourced products are worth. A Caple range cooker bought from Big Appliances commands a huge saving (there’s one on site now that will save a buyer more than £1,000) – but that’s because it is fairly priced. A Falcon range cooker, a Belling range cooker or a Leisure range cooker from the Big Appliances site benefits from exactly the same thing.

Then there’s the issue of “hidden contracts” – an apparently widespread commission generating technique that has been used by brand name white goods retailers for years. Every bought a cooker and then suddenly started receiving monthly copies of a cookery magazine? That’s because the store you bought the cooker from is contracted to fit subscriptions for that magazine into the sale of certain makes and models. It does this by simply adding the price of a year’s subscription to the price of the item you buy, and then signing you up for the magazine whether you want it or not. Big Appliances doesn’t do this, and never has – partly because it doesn’t work like that, and partly because, as an erstwhile wholesaler of the Belling range cooker, the Caple range cooker, the Leisure range cooker and the Falcon range cooker, it has never needed to. No wonder customers are moving to the Essex boys with great rapidity.
