Fall Evening of Beauty Exciting Event

Nov. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Portsmouth, NH - Atlantic Plastic Surgery Center’s Fall Open house was held Friday night, November 12th from 5 pm to 8pm.   Guests learned about the “newest and best” while watching numerous demonstrations, attending private consultations, listening to talks on popular topics and discovering solutions to their own skin care needs in private sessions with skin care specialists. Although the twice-yearly occasion is held as an informational experience, the event was highly entertaining and sociable.

Demonstrations by Dr. Mark Ballentyne on injectable fillers, with shoulder-to-shoulder attendance, showed how dermal fillers help restore facial volume where collagen has been lost over time, giving patients  a more youthful appearance which lasts up to nine months.Restylane was shown to enhance the lips, fill skin depressions and hallows around the eye area. Radiesse exhibited correction of nasolabial folds, which run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Dr. Ballentyne used Juvederm to smooth out crevasses between the eyebrows. Viewers commented that they were surprised by how dramatically fillers improved the patient’s appearance.

Dr. Ballentyne demonstrated use of the Fraxel laser on a pre-arranged patient with acne scarring. A Fraxel laser representative explained how this a non-invasive treatment works and the range of skin problems it treats. Viewers were able to ask questions on the spot. The Fraxel laser produces fresher looking, smoother, tighter skin with improved tone and texture, and reduces wrinkles around the eyes.

Dr. Lawrence Gray spoke on “The Aging Face and Neck”. “Patients are seeking a natural appearance with quick recovery. Surgery alone does not improve the quality of the skin. We use a comprehensive approach toward rejuvenating the face, including medical level skin care, Botox Cosmetic or Dysport, dermal fillers and/ or facial surgery, give patients a outstanding result with extremely little risk”, said Dr. Gray.

In another talk on “Truth and myths of Liposuction”, Dr. Gray clarified the difference between traditional liposuction and other methods of fat removal, such as laser liposuction. “To date, there have not been any quality studies showing an advantage with laser technology for fat removal. In fact, laser liposuction introduces the possibility of burning the skin and nerves. The worst results I have seen over the past year were on patients who had laser liposuction performed by non-plastic surgeons”.

Dr. Gray conducted brief consultations on breast augmentation with saline and silicone implants, scarless breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tucks and facial enhancement surgery. Demonstrations were given on the Axis 3D Imaging System, which shows patients what they will look like after surgery. This surgical simulation tool, which first takes a 3D picture of the patient’s body, next, allows the patient to select implant size, and then shows the patient how that implant size will look on their body. Dr. Gray’s 3D imager, the only one in northern New England, can give patients far better information than they can get currently through discussion and simply looking at before and after pictures.
