Chris is insightful and has bright ideas that can benefit the city of Los Angeles. He believes in creating "green" jobs and protecting the environment, which he says can be done by recycling electronic waste. If elected, his goal is to create over 1,000 "green" jobs within his first term. Proceeds collected from recycling will be donated to education in order to save jobs.
Brown was born on July 17, 1981 in Los Angeles at Cedars Sinai Hospital. He was raised in Carthay Circle and attended Carthay Elementary before moving on to Fairfax High School, where he played football. After graduating, he continued his education at San Jose State University. While there, he was eager to gain work experience and pursued a career at the telecom giant AT&T. His leadership and hard work then took him to Nextel’s corporate offices while balancing a full-time class load.
Unfortunately, during this time, he received news that his mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. He took a leave from college to attend to his mother's aid, and it was the work experience he gained in college that allowed him to get a job and successfully care for her.
Brown is married to a former school teacher and has one son. His wife lost her job as an eighth grade English teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a result of budget cuts. Although she holds a Master Degree in Education and has a credential, she struggles to find a teaching position. As a result of this, Chris is dedicated to helping educators find jobs and apply their education and skills in the classroom.
