Cat dumped in rubbish chute

Wood Green Animal Shelters are appealing for information after a cat was found dumped in a rubbish chute

PRLog - Nov. 18, 2010 - HUNTINGDON, U.K. -- Wood Green Animal Shelters is appealing for information about a cat that has been brought into their London Shelter after being found by a member of the public in a rubbish chute. The cat, a black male around three years old, who has been named The Stig by Shelter staff, was found on the Broadwater Farm Estate and brought to WGAS on Tuesday morning. He appears to be in good health and was wearing a gold collar, but unfortunately he has not been microchipped.

It is not known if it was a deliberate act of cruelty to dump The Stig in the rubbish chute, but he has had a very lucky escape, as the bins are emptied daily.

Anna Claxton, Deputy Manager of the London Shelter, said "It always amazes us here at the Shelter that, despite having been through what must have been a traumatic experience, The Stig has really come out of himself and proved to be an extremely friendly character as well as being extremely handsome!! We are all quickly becoming very fond of him."

Anyone who has any information on The Stig should contact the London Shelter on 0844 248 8181.

Photos of The Stig are available on request.
