Nov. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- At the prestigious Australian National Olive Oil Awards held in Adelaide in October 2010, Manzanillo Grove won Silver and Bronze awards in the Single Estate category. This means that the oil is grown and produced on the estate.

The extra virgin olive oil produced by this Bellarine attraction was also ranked in the 'Top 10 Oils in Australia', which is a great achievement for Manzanillo Grove.

Manzanillo Grove’s table fruit are also consistent winners at various national awards, last year achieving a bronze, and the year before a silver, medal.

Established as the first on the Bellarine Peninsula to plant olives back in 1997, owners Renate and Len Kint support sustainable growing and production practices and do not use chemicals.

This year ideal growing conditions meant that the fertile soil at Manzanillo Grove produced a record 9 500 litres from 4 000 olive trees. They also produced four tonnes of beautiful table fruit; in previous years, these have achieved Silver and Bronze medals.

There’s a wide variety of flavours and styles of olive oils to choose from at Manzanillo Grove, including frantoio which is a fruity cold pressed olive oil, delicious on salads, stir fries, fish and leafy green dishes.

Then there’s the gold medal winning manzanillo cold pressed olive oil, which has a nutty flavour and peppery after taste. It’s great on pasta, meats, dips and for baking, while the lemon or orange cold pressed olive oil is ideal for fish, chicken, salads or stir fries.

The garlic cold pressed olive oil saves peeling and chopping garlic, while the balsamic reduction is beautifully rich and made only with balsamic and raw sugar.

The dipping oils are the perfect accompaniment to fresh, crusty bread and also make an instant salad dressing. The Vac Pak olives are slightly marinated, chemical-free and have great flavour and texture.

Manzanillo Grove has recently branched out to produce a range of chemical free skin care called Belle Mi. Made from cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and essential oils, these products contain no petrochemicals and are gentle to the skin.

Owners Renate and Len Kint enjoy sharing their knowledge during cellar door tastings during which visitors can see how the olives and oils are produced.

Open on weekends from 11am to 4.30pm, some week days by appointment, and public holidays, this Bellarine attraction is a proud member of the Bellarine Taste Trail.
