77 Million Man Hours Without A Lost Time Injury

Nov. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Since Qatar Petroleum commenced project construction four years ago, the Pearl Village has become home to tens of thousands of workers. The project has devoted huge effort to identifying possible hazards and taking training and other actions to ensure they are minimised. Workers from Pearl GTL have completed over 300,000 safety and leadership courses in a custom-built training centre.
 
Furthermore A welfare team organises around 300 community events per month. A 150-strong team of volunteers led by two project psychologists provide counselling and other support to ensure workers' mental well-being. Additionally twice a year workers renew their commitment to safety, all those tools are part of the extensive safety programme that has created a culture in which everyone recognises their role and responsibility for ensuring safety at all times.

Stakeholders of the Shell Pearl GTL project are some of the many operators, contractors, management consultants taking part in the Global Oil & Gas Health & Safety Summit in Amsterdam from 30 November this year to 2 December.

The Pearl GTL project's client (SHELL), its managing contractor (JGC) and its consultancy (JMJ) will be opening the Summit with an interactive session and will also be sharing a video that will be screened to an audience of top players involved in HSE from across the globe who will be present at the health & safety summit that aims to be a platform for discussion and step change in safety for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
