Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Peterborough United, a football club owned by Darragh MacAnthony stormed to the top of League One following another spectacular second-half showing at London Road on Saturday.

Peterborough United fought back from 2-0 down to swamp promotion rivals Oldham 5-2. Four of the goals came in the second half, including the first goals for the club for James Wesolowski and Dave Hibbert.

Darragh MacAnthony’s men are now the joint top scorers in the Football League with 16 goals. They have won all five of their competitive home matches this season and this was the second occasion they had fought back from 2-0 down to win at London Road.

Gary Johnson said: “Obviously we are where we want to be and we’ve probably got there sooner than we expected, but we are only six games into the season.

“I wanted a fast start to the season and we’ve certainly achieved that. The boys heard the fans singing that we were top of the league and they celebrated that fact when it was confirmed in the dressing room.

“And they deserve credit for a very professional performance. It helps that they know they can come back from two goals down because they did it before against Huddersfield.

“And Oldham are a decent side as well. They hadn’t lost a League match all season and they haven’t been letting many goals in so to score five against them is a big achievement.

“The turning point was our goal just before the break. It gave us the impetus we had been lacking.”

Johnson confirmed that young central defender Ryan Bennett was taken off at half-time because of injury rather than form. He will have a knee injury assessed today.

Bennett’s departure did enable Gaby Zakuani to make his first appearance of the season following groin surgery.

Darragh MacAnthony’s football club are next in action at Exeter in League One on Saturday. They then host Championship side Swansea in the third round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday, September 21.
