Festival Organizers and Downtown Merchants Join Forces to Boost Business

A film festival draws thousands into the downtown area but not into downtown shops. A cross-promotion helps make the festival a hit with local film lovers and merchants.

Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- While the annual Mill Valley Film Festival drew thousands to this California downtown, businesses did not see much of an impact. The solution? A cross-promotion of the festival and downtown businesses called, "That's The Ticket."

Forty-one businesses agreed to provide discounts and special promotions to customers showing their Film Festival tickets. The festival promoted these businesses both online and in all of the key festival venues, with printed fliers, announcements, email blasts, and more.

In turn, the merchants contacted their customer lists to remind them of the festival and to announce their in-store specials.
