Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- The UK’s leading discount website, http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk conducted research of 1,147 mothers in England and Wales to discover the quantities of products that they used during their pregnancy, including anti-stretch mark treatment, folic acid, iron supplements and maternity clothing.

The research by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk has shown that, on average, each pregnant woman spends £342 throughout the duration of her pregnancy on just vitamins, clothing and moisturising products alone.

Of those asked by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, 89% purchased a minimum of two bottles of ant-stretch mark oil or cream (200ml per bottle/pot) during their pregnancy. With more than 700,000 pregnancies occurring in England and Wales every year,  that would equate to a minimum of  249,200,000ml of anti-stretch mark creams and lotions being used each year.

Only 2% of the respondents cited that they didn’t take folic acid throughout their pregnancy; the average woman is pregnant for 274 days and, with one tablet being taken daily, that would equate to around 186,046,000 folic acid tables being consumed across England and Wales by pregnant women.

According to the results of the survey by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, below is what each pregnant women in the UK should expect to have to purchase throughout the course of each pregnancy, based on the average amount of each product each respondent claimed to have used:

£13 per 200ml bottle/pot anti-stretch mark cream or lotion
Up to four bottles during pregnancy
800ml
=£52

£5 per 90 tablets of Folic acid
3 bottles during pregnancy
270 tablets
= £15

£25 per maternity outfit
10 outfits during pregnancy
=£250

£5 per 60 multi vitamins
5 bottles during pregnancy
300 tablets
=£25

Andy Cole, parenting expert at http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said the following about the findings;

“The amount of money that is spent during a pregnancy on nothing but clothing, vitamins and recommended food is higher than we expected it to be. Considering that the £342 figure is an average, rather than a maximum, means that we should consider the possibility of other things being added to the shopping list and therefore increasing the price.”

He continued,

“If you are expecting a new arrival, sites such as MyVoucherCodes.co.uk have great discounts for products that you would need during pregnancy, as well as discounts for things when the baby is born such as toys, furniture and clothing.”
