NYK Group chooses the KSD Security Control System

Nov. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The EDI connection between KSD and NYK Group will ensure timely and accurate declaration of goods into and out of the European Union.  These changes aim to improve the safety and security of imported and exported goods, allowing customs officers to better target controls and to carry out risk assessment prior to the arrival of goods at the EU border.

NYK expects, through their partnership with KSD, they can achieve compliance for all Custom’s regulations and requirements within the European Union.  KSD provides the most direct communication to Member States within the EU and is already aggressively testing to ensure smooth transition by December 31, 2010.  

Briefly about ICS and EXS
Effective January 1, 2011, all carriers (ships, planes and trucks) will be required to electronically declare goods entering or leaving the EU, Switzerland and Norway prior to their arrival.  This is a major change for carriers who will have to connect via EDI with Customs authorities within the EU to declare those goods.
