Nov. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- This unique event will focus on organic gardening and cooking instruction and demonstrations. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Island Naturals Market and Deli in Hilo, Hawaii on November 19th from 6:00-8:00pm. Seats are $25 when purchased online and $30 at the door. Seating is limited.

Claudia and Eric Ziroli owners and operators of a private self-sufficiency farm in the Puna District are experts in range of sustainability practices. This capable dynamic duo will inspire and inform attendees in key areas of organic gardening and cooking. Attendees will benefit from knowing how to grow some of their own food supply thereby reducing their food bill and cooking food from their gardens that provide better tasting food that is healthy and nutritious.

The first hour of this two-hour class will introduce the basics of organic gardening including, preparation, cultivation, soil and maintenance. The second hour will introduce proper harvesting and organic food preparation. Affordable, easy to prepare recipes will be passed out to all attendees. The focus of this class is healthy, organic, local food that anyone can grow and prepare at home. A discussion will follow the presentation. This event will be especially helpful considering the upcoming holiday season.

Russell Ruderman, President of Island Naturals Market, said, "We are very excited about this opportunity to spread the word about local foods and how to use them. This class will teach people how to grow their own food more successfully, and how to better use what they grow. Island Naturals is Hawaii's biggest seller of local organic produce, and we are always looking to promote local food production, even if it means we sell less produce to successful gardeners! If you grow it yourself you will have the strongest possible connection with your food and the healthiest food, as well as reduce your cost of living. We are pleased to offer this class to the public. We'll be serving some light pupus for attendees.!"
