Nov. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) has been doing well these last 10 days of voting.  They have gone up the ranks from #254 to #131 because of daily votes by their supporters and various clients through the www.refresheverything.com/UBCF  website, texting, and Facebook application.  In order to be awarded the grant from Pepsi, UBCF must be in the top two ranked by votes during the month of November.   The Pepsi Refreshing consumer-generated idea is to be given to the top voted choices that are believed to make a positive impact on the community.  Voting concludes on November 30 and the winners will be announced on December 1, 2010.

The mission of UBCF is to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by and afflicted with breast cancer.  UBCF provides financial support to women and their families by giving access to preventative and holistic therapies, never denying anyone service regardless of age, race, gender or income, while also giving grants to hospitals active in the research for a cure.  The most important fact is that the United Breast Cancer Foundation came about to ease the stress and strain that cancer can cause a patient and their families, while creating & promoting health and wellness.

Securing a grant by the Pepsi Refresh Project for the UBCF Programs is crucial to assist many families suffering from the stress and strain breast cancer causes.  One of their programs is called the "Audrey B. Mastroianni College Scholarship Fund."  This is a fund designed to help college-bound students who have suffered a loss of a parent, due to breast cancer, that are in need of financial assistance in order to make their higher education dreams a reality.  The College Fund was established in honor of Audrey B. Mastroianni, an educator and firm believer in education and continued personal enrichment.

There are many people who can benefit from this scholarship fund.  One young lady, Dena, has shared her story with UBCF:

"My mother's ordeal with breast cancer has affected me greatly in obvious and subtle ways. I now view life as more precious and to be enjoyed, day by day. We are here on earth for an unspecified amount of time and it should be continually appreciated. I will always cherish the time I had with my mother."

Dena's mother, Karen, passed away in January 2006 after a 14 year battle with breast cancer. UBCF has named Dena Z. of Long Island, NY a 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 recipient of the Audrey B. Mastroianni Scholarship. UBCF is honored to help Dena achieve her greatest potential as a student and artist.

"Assistance from The United Breast Cancer Foundation has had an immense impact on my student life. The extra funds have made various projects possible. It has given me the opportunity to attain higher quality supplies, and more materials for my art works. Cultural and inspirational trips into NYC in the form of museums, art galleries, art installations, and studios are now possible for me when they hardly ever were before. I have experienced a significant reduction of stress thanks to UBCF, and my achievements as an artist have been considerably enhanced."
