Lory’s Place Provides Kids and Grief and Talking with Kids about Death Programs

Lory’s Place, the Grief Healing and Education Center of Hospice at Home, is providing two programs at the Buchanan District Library, one for children and one for adults for would like to learn how to talk with children about death.
 
Nov. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Has your child been touched by the death of someone in their life? Does your child have questions about death? Death can be a difficult topic for anyone to talk about, and it can be especially difficult to discuss with children.  

Lory’s Place, the Grief Healing and Education Center of Hospice at Home, is providing two programs at the Buchanan District Library, one for children and one for adults for would like to learn how to talk with children about death.

Kids and Grief, on Monday, November 22, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm is a special presentation about death and grief for children ages 5 – 12 years of age. Activities include reading books, craft activities, and discussing the fundamentals of death and grief using words and concepts appropriate for children.

Talking with Kids about Death, Monday, December 6, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm is a one-night workshop for adults. Words, concepts, book suggestions and conversation starters, and a question and answer session will be offered to help adults learn how to talk with children about death.

Lory’s Place, a Grief Healing Center of Hospice at Home, provides tools to help children and adults cope with death, begin the healing process and ultimately adjust to the new normal of life in the healthiest way possible. Since opening on November 15, 2004, hundreds of children from Allegan, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties in Michigan, as well as from Elkhart and South Bend in Indiana, have taken the courageous step of accessing the bereavement resource services of Lory’s Place.   With professional staff and trained volunteers, Lory’s Place provides regularly scheduled age-appropriate support group sessions, resources, and education. There is no charge for the programs and services that Lory’s Place provides.
