Nov. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- The City of Houston recently extended its 15 year relationship with Smart City Electrical, a subsidiary of Smart City Networks, by once again awarding it the utility services contract for the George R. Brown Convention Center.

For the past 15 years, Smart City has provided the utility services, including the electricity and plumbing utilized by event exhibitors, at the George R. Brown Convention Center.  Smart City also provides the event technology services, including telecommunications, at the facility.

“We are proud to have been chosen to continue to provide the utility services for events at the George R. Brown Convention Center,” said Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks.  “Over the years, we have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the utility needs of the facility and its customers, and our team looks forward to continuing our unique partnership with this great facility.”

“Every show is different, and the utility needs of our customers vary tremendously,” said Luther Villagomez, general manager of the George R. Brown Convention Center.  “No matter what the utility challenge, Smart City makes it happen.  We are very pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with Smart City.”

Led locally by Chris Wharry, general manager for technology and utility services, Smart City will continue to provide all electrical and plumbing utility services throughout the entire facility for all events.  Smart City will also perform various upgrades and enhancements to the George R. Brown’s electrical system, including rebuilding of exhibit space floor pockets and upgrading the electrical and utility infrastructure throughout the entire complex.
