PSL Sunset Rotary Hosts 12th Annual Bill Powers Moonlight Madness Golf Tournament Fore Kids

There's something so different and unique about playing golf after the sun goes down. It tends to be more of a party than a competition. And when you add the fact that it's all for a good cause, it's a win-win for everyone.

Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Bill Powers loved golf and he loved playing in his Rotary Club’s Moonlight Gold Tournament.  He also loved kids.  Bill Powers passed away in September of this year.  So when the Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club announced their 12th Annual Moonlight Gold Tournament, it was only fitting that it be named after the man who put so much of his time, energy and effort into making this annual event a success.

“Bill Powers was such a valued member of our Rotary Club and we truly wanted to honor him in some way.  This seemed to be the most appropriate,” says Stephen Krumfolz, President of the PSL Sunset Rotary Club. “Besides, he loved to have a great time out on the golf course and that’s what this tournament is all about.”

This year’s event, The Bill Powers 12th Annual Moonlight Madness Golf Fore Kids Tournament, will be held Friday, November 19th, at the Sandpiper Golf Course, 4500 SE Pine Valley Street, in Club Med in Port St. Lucie.  Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. with a shotgun start at 6:30 p.m.  Format is a 4 person team and both men and women are welcome to play. Entry fees for the tournament are $50 per person for advanced registration and $60 day of event and include a hearty breakfast buffet following the tournament.  There will also be a putting contest, a raffle and a 50/50.

Golfers in this event play with glow in the dark golf balls and the course is lighted with glow in the dark sticks.  It’s certainly more challenging than daylight golf, but many of the players are there as much for the camaraderie as the game. In fact, many of the players are repeat players from previous tournaments.

This tournament is part of the PSL Sunset Rotary Golf Tournament for Charities Program and beneficiary for this tournament is the CASTLE, a local child abuse prevention and education program and other charitable organizations.

The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary is a local branch of Rotary International. They meet every Thursday at Applebee’s Restaurant on US#1 in Port St. Lucie.  Those interested in the golf tournament can contact Rocky Bellantoni at (772) 284-7394.  Those interested in membership can register on line at www.pslsunsetrotary.net  or call Larry Breault at (772) 631-7109 or Julie Lambert at (772) 871-1100 Ext. 207 (9am-5pm).
