Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- The Oprah Show has a history of speaking out against sexual abuse.  Her recent show of 200 Men Come Forward is a topic which hits close to home to one individual who was sexually abused from the age of 3 – 12 or 13.  Mike Furches is among those who have lived an extraordinary life, including being sexually abused by various individuals, including his mother.  He has chronicled his story in the new release of the book The Keystone Kid.  He is currently offering a male voice to the issues.

Furches has lived an extraordinary life, from working with some of the top bands in America, to being an authority on mental illnesses. He has been read by millions via his online work, The Virtual Pew and Hollywood Jesus and syndicated print publications. There is no denying many have been touched by his life, his story, and writings on such subjects as abuse. He has appeared on national television programs, radio, print and various documentaries. He has interacted with everyone from Rob Zombie to Billy Bob Thornton, and being interviewed and quoted in magazines such as Christianity Today and Time and other sources like The Canadian Free Press, Salon.com, The London Telegraph, The London Guardian and many others.  He has sacrificially lived his life and served others. He has told the story of Anthony to hundreds of thousands. Mike serves as a pastor of an inner-city church, Mosaic in Wichita Kansas which seeks to reach out to those who have been abused.  The church understands the reasons many don’t seek help and counseling.  It is for that reason that Mosaic is among those agencies offering recovery services at a, ‘whatever you can afford basis.’  Mike also directs the work of The Virtual Pew, an online community of faith credited by many as the first online church.   A large part of The Virtual Pew services also assists victims of abuse.  He has two grown children, Marathana and Nathan, and has been married to his loving wife Mary Jane since 1979.

Mike is currently scheduling speaking engagements and interviews specifically dealing with the subject of abuse.  He is open for media interviews specific to physical and sexual abuse and its effects, mental illness, child abandonment, latch key issues, urban needs, the discovery of hope and more.  You can schedule a media interview by emailing mike@thevirtualpew.com or calling toll free to 1-800-344-5013, or you can call 316-258-3952.
