BEST Launches Custom Thermal Shields

Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Rolling Meadows, IL November 10, 2010– BEST Inc., announces the availability of custom service to process and fabricate thermal and electrical insulation barriers for the PCB and component industries. Unlike most custom capabilities where the devices are punched, BEST laser machines these custom shapes which makes it ideal for smaller run specialty applications for military, aerospace and other high complexity high current draw applications.

These parts are used to provide thermal and or electrical insulation characteristics and are found in such uses as barriers between PCBs, PCBs and housings, barriers to prevent access to dangerous areas, heat sinks for large devices passing large amounts of current as well as many others.

“This capability was born from our standard products area where we have been asked numerous times from our customers to make insulators and heat shields both with and without adhesive backing.” said Katy Radcliff, product manager for BEST Inc.

These custom insulators are available in mica, fish paper, aramid paper, kapton, polyimides as well as a host of others. Minimum quantities are a function of the material availability but generally are as low as 10 pieces. Maximum sizes which can be processed are 200 x 200mm with minimum features sizes of 0.15mm. Depending upon material availability this service produces parts in 5 days or less once material is in house and all engineering details have been clarified.
