Thailand Construction News announces the launch of Thailand's construction and engineering 'go-

Thailand Construction News (TCN), the local industry’s best news resource for construction, engineering and associated sector professionals in Thailand and the region, has launched its new website, www.Thailand-Construction.com .

Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Every year there are so many construction and engineering business and employment opportunities wasted and lost in Thailand and the region, through not being able to find what or who one is looking for in the local industry. Thailand Construction News (TCN) endeavours to ‘plug that gap’, to bring to together and be the medium to link the many local and expatriate businesses and personnel in the construction industries (of Building, Construction, Energy, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Interiors, Petroleum, Power, Property, Rail, Real Estate, Telecommunications, Transport, etc) that are based in Thailand and the region, or have made Thailand their home, or have an interest in Thailand.

Peter Carlisle, Managing Director of Quantity Surveying Consultants Ltd, the man behind TCN, is excited about the launch of the new website, and explained the background to TCN and the launch:

"The birth of TCN back in October 2005 was something like this. I was driving down the beautiful countrified roads of Bangplee on a glorious sunny morning. I'd been working for a contractor client for over three years at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi airport. It was my last day there. I'd got no new client and no work to go to come Monday morning. None of my usual clients or contacts had come good with work for me. I'd not heard from any recruitment agents. I'd exhausted searching the internet for expat construction jobs in Thailand, and six months work in Afghanistan was definitely not to my liking. I know, I thought, I’ll look through a few local construction job publications and get a job that way; oh yeah, there are none. Note to self - 'get home tonight and invent ‘Thailand Construction News’…'. I had the idea that morning, jotted down some notes on how to go about it, and started it when I was free the following Monday.

It's fair to say that Thailand, and probably the regional market, was crying out for something like TCN. There is just nothing else out there like TCN apart from resorting to the building-portal websites in the UK, Australia and the USA, which feature little about Thailand, so over the years we have been very well received and have built a very loyal following.
We scour the internet wires for local and regional news; we announce details of the upcoming meetings and get-togethers of construction and engineering orientated societies and organisations, seminars, talks, knees up, golf matches.

Our most popular features are the jokes - we take a very light-hearted approach to publishing, it should be fun - and very definitely the construction jobs and vacancies. In producing content, we try to be both informative and entertaining.

In the years since we commenced publishing the e-newsletter we have been contacted countless times by companies seeking new projects or works or business opportunities, or enquiring could they possibly advertise their company in TCN e-newsletter. We have lost count of how many times we have been contacted by a party interested but struggling to find one company or a list of companies, for example, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, a Structural Engineer, in Thailand generally or maybe in a specific place like Phuket.
Looking around we concluded that there is not a decent website for the construction-industries in Thailand and S.E. Asia and that if we wanted one then we would have to put one together ourselves.

We wanted to create a way for companies and organisations to showcase their business, services and/or product/s to other potentially interested parties, and we thought the time was now right to augment the E-newsletter with the website.

Even those companies not involved in the construction-industries, but who provide services or products to the local expatriate market, are also invited to join us in listing in our Directory and advertising on the website.

We know from experience that many construction-industries companies do not have the time, and often do not have the know-how, to focus on using online technologies to advertise themselves to find new clients. Possibly with the exception of the companies on the real estate side of the Construction industry, the majority out there, be they contractors, consultants or product manufacturers or suppliers, do not traditionally go out of their way to self-promote or undertake any PR or marketing activities whatsoever and tend to rely only on their company name or reputation. We hope to pave the way for them.

For the past 5 years we have tended to cater mainly for the local expat construction business, but are now making in-roads in to the 'Thai' market in our aim to be Thailand's mainstream construction and engineering 'go-to' website".

The TCN reader profile is top tier professionals from across the wide spectrum of developers, consultants, contractors and project owners in the construction and engineering industries; interestingly TCN is also widely received by expatriates who have nothing whatsoever to do with construction and engineering but seem to enjoy it anyway…it's those jokes you see!
