Follow on Google News | Actors Training Center announces formation of Teenage Repertory CompanyThe Actors Training Center, a professional acting school located in the The Wilmette Theatre at 1122 Central Street, Wilmette forms a professional teenage repertory company who will act in 1 hour musical theatre productions geared for ages 5 and up.
By: The Wilmette Theatre INTO THE WOODS Jr. Version, Act One “HAPPILY EVER AFTER” (Wilmette,Il-- ATC REPETORY COMPANY will be performing one-hour musical theatre productions for young audiences at The Wilmette Theatre on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. continuing the theatre’s tradition of quality programming for young audiences. The professional teen actors in the repertory company were hand picked by ATC director Carole Dibo and the Musical Theatre Director Janet Louer. After months of training and many hours of discussion and observation of their talent, maturity and ability to juggle the rigors of being part of a repertory company, school and personal life, Repertory Company members were selected. The actors in the Rep Co range in age from 13 to 17 and are from Chicago, Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest, Glenview and Highland Park. The ATC REPETORY COMPANY will present 3 shows this first inaugural season under the direction of Janet Louer who has been with the Actors Training Center since it opened in 2007. Janet Louer is a freelance Casting Director and co-Director of Eyes Wide Open and Double Shot Productions. Janet coaches privately and is on the faculty of DePaul Theatre School where she teachers "Audition". Janet was a Casting Associate in New York for film and television worked at TNI casting Broadway Shows such as Elizabeth Taylor's LITTLE FOXES, WEST SIDE STORY and Sandy Duncan's PETER PAN. Ms. Louer has won a Joseph Jefferson Citation and has choreographed National Tours. " Kids performing for Kids" is an exciting and innovative approach to bringing Broadway shows to the young and very young audience. The usual Theatre for Young Audience (TYA) productions are performed by "Adults performing for Kids." There is something about kids seeing kids performing that give the audience a level of accessibility to the characters in the show, that has rarely, if ever been offered before,” says Director Janet Louer. The Actors Training Center’s cutting edge philosophy revolves around the strong belief that young performer's have the capability to do professional level work if expected to do so. “ We work with the mantra that if the bar is set high, then higher, then REALLY high...the young performer will grasp onto it at each new height”, says Carole Dibo Founder and Director of the training center. “ All of the teachers at the Actors Training Center are working the industry and have a keen awareness of what is expected of the young professional actor,” she adds. The debut production will be: Into The Woods Act One “Happily Ever After” Recommended for ages 5 and up. Three performances are scheduled. December 4 at 10 a.m. and December 12th at 10 a.m. and Noon. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. INTO THE WOODS is a musical retelling of fairy tale characters Cinderella and her famously evil step-family, Jack and his Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, the Witch and the Baker and his Wife, as they all journey INTO THE WOODS to get what they have wished for, so that they can live Happy Ever After! Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Book by James Lapine. The actors are all teenagers who have worked and trained at the Actors Training Center, a professional actors school.
