Jobslackers is a social Networking site that makes the job search process more fun and effective

Nobody likes having to look for a new job after they've worked so hard for so long. A new social networking site known as Jobslackers tries to make the process more fun and effective.

Nov. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- It is hard to find optimism after losing your job during a recession.  The stress of financial worries can be overwhelming.  The thought of working at a job beneath your skill level alongside (or even under) professionals far less experienced or qualified can be degrading and depressing.  Nobody wants to leave a company they’ve been at for twenty years with no alternatives and no recent graduate wants to feel the humility of not being able to prove themselves after four years of hard work.

This concept sounds so morbid, yet it is a reality for millions of people throughout the United States and beyond.  Shawn Sledge has attempted to alleviate the stress of job seekers and make the process more fun and effective with the launch of Jobslackersonline.com.  The social networking site is working hard to grow on a shoestring budget, but offers a few options for unemployed workers in response to the record unemployment rates that precipitated its launch.

One of the key advantages of the site is a networking job search feature into his site.  This feature allows job seekers to get into direct contact with employed members of the site who could help them get an inside connection with the position they were interested in, giving an online spin on the phrase “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”

Another feature of Jobslackers is a section where users could post video resumes that can be publicly viewed by employers, giving candidates a huge advantage when looking for a job.  When an employer views the video, they don’t just see a list of positions or degrees, but a real candidate demonstrating their work ethic and drive to succeed.  LinkedIn may be a great site for networking but Jobslackers has tried to differentiate itself with different technology.

Shawn describes the mission of his social networking venture very eloquently: “This website is for working professionals who want to give back to the community by posting open job positions, entrepreneurs who want to express their work without restrictions, job seekers looking to get a new start on life, and for the everyday web surfer who wants to stay in touch with friends and family.  This is definitely a new and fun way to job search.”
The ABC Morning Show in Birmingham, AL has interviewed Shawn and Jobslackers is beginning to receive a lot of attention in the social networking community.
