"Launch Pad" Card Game Ready for Liftoff into Retail Stores

Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Stratus Games' new card game of rocket construction and destruction, Launch Pad, is now available to retailers worldwide. The game joins Gold Mine, a highly-acclaimed family tile-laying game, as one of two new releases from the company this fall.

In Launch Pad, players construct varying models of interstellar rockets, advance them to quality control, and ready them for launch. Experts, including engineers, quality inspectors and mission controllers, must be present at each level of construction in order for the rockets to advance. Action cards allow players to sabotage, destroy and otherwise wreak havoc upon other players' progress. Specialty cards give players a special ability, such as extra defense or increased efficiency. While players struggle to build, attack and defend rockets, the launch pad is also under construction. As soon as it’s completed, the rockets that are ready will launch and score points, with all the others being left behind.

Several reviews are still pending, but Launch Pad is already being hailed as "a lot of fun" and "intuitive," with "crisp, whimsical graphic elements and superb artwork, card design and typography," according to a review on DiceHateMe.com. "Launch Pad seems to have a good combination of victory and vexing, and with the excellent card mix, even a player who falls behind can find themselves back in the game within a couple of turns."

Launch Pad can be purchased wholesale from game distributors, Publisher Services Inc. (PSI), or directly from Stratus Games. The game will be officially available to consumers on November 24, 2010.
