Local Inn Bucks Trend And Offers A Free Getaway For U.s. Veterans

Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Kyle TX – Inn Above Onion Creek in Kyle, TX is going against the grain and honoring American heroes this Veteran’s Day with a free one night getaway at their luxurious, award winning Hill Country inn. The inn gave away all but one room, which was already booked, and will also honor the military couples with a special dinner. To compensate for the one booked room, and to help the additional forty service people who responded after all bookings were place, the inn will hold a drawing for an additional free night’s stay for one lucky service member. Over the last several years, the number of Austin area businesses offering discounts and perks to U.S. military men and women have dwindled significantly. Most vets travel to San Antonio to enjoy their discounts, but the Inn Above Onion Creek is showing vets that the Austin area does care. The idea for the big giveaway was spawned by an initiative from West Virgina known as “B and B’s for Vets.” The initiative asked that participating lodgers give away a free stay to one lucky military service person and their spouse. The Inn Above Onion Creek took it a step further, offering their entire facility.

“We wanted to do something to show our military how much we appreciate their service,” says innkeeper Amy Dolan. “We had no idea the response would be so great!”

While at the inn, veterans will enjoy a gourmet breakfast and a special dinner featuring top-sirloin steaks and fresh, local produce. Guests will also have the opportunity to take advantage of their spa, located on the premises, and the serene beauty of over 88 acres of Texas Hill Country.
