Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Denver, Colo. — Nov. 4, 2010 —Trips for Kids Denver/Boulder (TFKD/B), a non-profit organization providing mountain biking and environmental awareness programs to underserved youth, announced today it reach an important milestone of assisting more than 1,000 kids on bike rides this season.

This record-breaking number was due to the organization’s efforts in developing engaging and adventurous outdoor programs in Denver and also expanding its reach in Boulder. TFKD/B couldn’t have done it without the financial support of its sponsors including REI, Perl Izumi, Specialized, Net Belguium, Primal, The Herbert Parker Foundation, and other financial contributors.

“Last year we set a goal of reaching 1,000 children with our Youth Mountain Biking program and quiet frankly, it was a lofty goal we hoped to achieve, but didn’t realistically know if we would be able to accomplish it,” said Andrew Goodwillie, Executive Director of TFKD/B. “In order to accomplish this goal we needed to have a 45 percent increase this season. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this milestone without the help of our sponsors and to all of our volunteers that has helped make this possible.”

A 13-year-old, Sasha Price was TFKD/B 1,000 rider of the season. He is a 7th grader at Casy Middle School in Boulder and was born in the Republic of Kalmykia, which is part of Russia.  To learn more about Sasha and to hear about his bike club experience with TFKD/B, visit http://www.tripsforkidsdenver.org/1k-day-ride/.

Bike rides organized through Trips for Kids Denver/Boulder provide underserved, urban youth with a positive outdoor experience, while teaching them valuable lessons about healthy life-choices, environmental awareness, and building positive self-esteem.

The organization plans to further extend its reach throughout the Denver/Boulder markets in the upcoming years by further partnering with additional organizations and expanding its bike riding programs.
