American Airlines wins anna.aero US ANNIE Prize “Airline With The Most New Airport Destinations”

Nov. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- (London, UK, 14 October 2010 --anna.aero)  The Airport and Airline News  & Analysis website anna.aero has awarded Amercian Airlines with the anna.aero US ANNIE Prize 2010 “Airline with The Most New Airport Destinations” for being the most adventurous US carrier during the last 12 months to October, increasing the number of destinations it serves by 17 new airports including Beijing, Montevideo and Myrtle Beach. All of the new airports are served from either Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Ft. Worth or Miami.

“The importance of the anna.aero US ANNIE Prizes are their basis on science, statistics and evidence rather than merely the opinions of a panel of judges or votes. Using OAG schedule data for over 670 airports and almost 100 airlines operating in the US market, our team of data experts have pored over the figures and come up with a transparent way of rewarding airlines and airports that have achieved notable route and traffic related success in the US during the last year,” said anna.aero Editor Ralph Anker, himself a former route planner with the European low cost airline easyJet.

Runner-up was Branson AirExpress, a new airline that only began operating this year from the new Branson Airport in Missouri which has launched nine new airport destinations. The biggest domestic airline in the US, Southwest, added just two new destinations in the last year; Milwaukee and Panama City Northwest Florida Beaches International.
