Go Large for Charity This Weekend

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 3, 2010 - With the 2010 annual Scottish Asian Business Awards fast approaching, past winner and successful entrepreneur Umer Ashraf Malik has launched a charity fundraising initiative to raise money for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation in partnership with this year’s Awards. Come November 24, the Crown Plaza Hotel will be packed with the brightest and most successful Scottish Asian business men and women, honouring their successes in an evening of awards and entertainment. With the awards celebrating their 5th year, it would be great to celebrate this milestone with a record amount of funds raised for the foundation since the awards inception in 2006, which have reached £14,258 in total to date. With the help of iCafé’s ‘Coffee for the Kids’ weekends, Organisers Oceanic Consulting are well on the way to achieving this goal.

With 5 pence from every large coffee bought at any of the iCafes going straight into the charity fund, the first two ‘Coffee for Kids’ weekends have proven to be a great success, with a total of 1,980 large coffees being sold. This weekend is gearing up to be an even greater achievement as iCafe have decided to triple charity intake by donating 15 pence from every large coffee sold! iCafe owner and past Scottish Asian Business Award winner,

Umer Ashraf voiced his support for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and Scottish Asian Business Awards partnership;

“In 2008 the Scottish Asian Business Awards organisers arranged a visit to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital to see the facilities and the fantastic work they undertake with the children. I was so taken with the hospital’s efforts that since then myself and the team at iCafe, have actively supported Yorkhill Children’s Foundation on a number of occasions. When I was approached by the organisers this year, both I and the team at iCafe were delighted to get the chance once again to help out in conjunction with this year’s awards. With two more ‘Coffee for Kids’ weekends to go, we hope we can raise generous amounts of funds for such a noble cause.”

The money raised by iCafe will go towards providing enhanced medical equipment and resources which benefit sick children and babies who are treated at Yorkhill Hospital and within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Furthermore, fund raised will also help in assisting in the Lahore Twinning Program, further extending the partnership and the level of care between the children’s hospitals at Yorkhill and in Lahore.
