CONGRATULATIONS! 2nd Batch of Graduates of the 2-day MoneyTree Entrepreneur Training Program

Nov. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- UiTM Shah Alam – MoneyTree and UiTM recently held the Entrepreneur Training Graduation Ceremony at Menara SAAS, Faculty of Accounting, UiTM Shah Alam. A total of 100 participants of the 2-day UiTM Entrepreneur Training received their graduation certificates from Professor Dr Ibrahim Kamal, the Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM Shah Alam.

The MoneyTree Entrepreneurship Program is the first-of-its-kind Entrepreneur Simulation program that allows participants to “Experience” Entrepreneurship hands-on through a simulation that allows participants to put into practice the lessons they have learnt during the training.

Mr Brandon Liew, CEO of MoneyTree Malaysia stated, “We were really impressed with the level of enthusiasm and participation from the students. The teams were extremely competitive during the simulation, each trying to outdo the other teams in growing their virtual enterprises. We would also like to thank the Management team of the Faculty of Accounting in UiTM, specifically the Dean of the Faculty of Accounting, Professor Dr Ibrahim Kamal for his foresight and vision in providing his students with programs that would greatly increase their marketability when they graduate. I think it’s really amazing what his team has done over the past year in nurturing their students in the aspects of Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship.”

Before the certificates were given out, one of the graduates, Muhammad Shazrul Amin was invited to the stage to express his thoughts on what he learnt at the entrepreneur program. In his short speech, he said, “The Simulation is not just a game. It teaches us to make decisions and also to be aware of the business environment. Besides having fun, we also obtained knowledge from it. I love this program. I think this program is really helpful. This is an opportunity that I will never forget. One day, when I have children, I will send my children to Money Tree’s program.”

The TOP 2 teams that excelled in the Entrepreneur Program were also awarded prizes for their success in “growing” their virtual business within the simulation.
   
During the simulation, the participants were given resources to start off with and they would be required to start virtual enterprises within the simulation, where they would have to make business decisions on the go when certain market conditions are presented to them. Business loans, Marketing, Research & Development and Advertising are some of the key areas participants would have to pay attention to, to ensure their enterprises generate revenue during the simulation.

Participants who have undergone the MoneyTree Entrepreneurship Simulation program would have a much clearer idea of what mindsets, resources, skills and knowledge they would require to start a business venture. Incidentally, the Simulation is the prelude to the MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) Challenge; the FIRST business challenge in the country that requires participants to not only come up with ideas, present it to a panel of judges, BUT to also implement those ideas by soliciting funds from private investors. YES is a Business Challenge that deals with Real Money, Real Investors, and provides you with Real-life Entrepreneurship Experience.

The Maybank MoneyTree YES challenge is a business challenge organized by MoneyTree to help Young, Vibrant Entrepreneur Aspirants launch their business ideas into the market and ultimately turn those ideas into profitable ventures. The challenge not only allows young Entrepreneurs / aspiring Entrepreneurs to learn skills that would sharpen their Entrepreneurial mindsets, but to also provide them with the opportunity to experience the practical applications of the Entrepreneurial skills they acquired through the MoneyTree Entrepreneur Fast Track program. Ultimately, YES teams who have proven their worth would be channelled to government pre-seed grants for full commercialization of their ideas.
