Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Saratoga, NY – October 31, 2010 It was an outstanding competition on Fish Creek in up state New York. The weather was bright and crisp the three Bay View Crews made an outstanding showing at this end of the fall season event.  This annual crew event draws high school aged crews from western and central New York, Canada, and many New England states, it presents a very strong competition. The Bay View Freshman Crew led the way with 2nd place (out of 7 boats) at the Head of the Fish Regatta, making theirs the highest standing for a Bay View Crew at this regatta. The First Varsity made a similar claim for themselves, as they finished 4th (out of 31 boats) in their event, which is the highest standing for any Bay View Varsity. The Second Varsity followed up by setting their own mark with 6th place (out of 15 boats), the highest finish ever for our Second Varsity crews.  BVA’s Danielle Riggin ’12 won her own Gold Medal and a Fish Head Trophy in the Junior Mixed Double Sculls Event. Danielle’s sculling partner was Eric Esposito. Both are members of the Narragansett Boat Club. “I could not be prouder of these girls. They have made a commitment to this grueling sport and their individual and collective grit and spirit certainly showed in the fantastic results.  I speak for the entire Bay View Academy and extend hardy congratulations on these great achievements in crew.” said Colleen Gribbin, BVA High School Principal.

Reflective of the spirited team and support group, the Bay View Academy amenities tent was incredibly resplendent with enormous varieties of food. This is Bay View’s last rowing event for 2010, but the crew’s activity will continue as they pursue fundraising for a new eight-oared shell.
