Nov. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Magnetic state import
Engineers involved in magnetic system design are aware of the importance of calculating self- and mutual inductances. For non-linear problems with several coils, this task is quite complicated because magnetic parameters of the media depend on the combined action of all field sources in the problem. Self and mutual inductance calculation is usually achieved by setting up the problems with only one magnetic field inducing current at a time. Flux distribution in this case is different from a situation when all field sources act together. In non-linear media this leads to the differences in the magnetic permeability distributions, resulting in loss of accuracy of inductance calculations. QuickField 5.8 provides a convenient solution of this difficulty. Using familiar coupled problems interface it is now possible to import the exact distribution of the magnetic permeability into your DC Magnetic problem, and calculate the inductances in exact operating conditions.

Parallel computing with LabelMover
LabelMover is the QuickField utility for parametric studies which supports serial calculations, tolerance analysis and optimisation. It automatically generates and solves groups of QuickField problems, which often requires considerable time. With QuickField 5.8, LabelMover is able to run several QuickField problems in parallel, utilising all processor cores available on your computer. Automatically generated QuickField problems are united in groups for parallel processing. The number of parallel groups has a default value defined by the number of core processors and can be adjusted by the user.
This new feature combined with unsurpassed speed of the QuickField solvers and meshers makes a massive improvement in QuickField’s performance on extremely large parametric analysis problems by enabling you to fully utilise the amazing power of today’s computer systems.

Interface improvements
QuickField 5.8 makes even more improvements to its simple and straightforward user interface, further supporting its claim that this intuitive tool can be used without any training. A new window for geometric model properties provides better control of geometric objects and simplifies the assignment of physical data and mesh generation parameters.
New setup system

The QuickField 5.8 installation procedure is controlled by a new setup system which provides better compatibility with modern operating environments, including Windows 7, and gives more freedom to IT administrators in the selection of the most appropriate installation options for their end users.
